On the morning of May 21st, 2015 (the fourth day of the fourth lunar month), the “Seven Masters” Temple Fair was held in xitang town, Jiashan County, attracting nearly 2,000 local people and foreign tourists to pray.
In the late 1990s, after the tourism development in the ancient town of xitang, the Temple of Protecting the Country with Grain King (also known as the Seven Masters) was protected and repaired at its original site. The Temple Fair of Protecting the Country with Grain King was also preserved as an important folk activity in Xitang. In 1999, a grand tour temple fair was held in the whole town, which was loved by many Xitang people and tourists from all over the world. Every year, on the third day of the fourth lunar month, that is, the birthday of the seventh master, the local people will have a grand celebration ceremony. The temple fair will carry the gods of the seventh master out of the temple gate. After the established route, everywhere you go, you will be greeted with a warm welcome. Along the way, banners and drums are fluttering, drums and drums are ringing, firecrackers are ringing, and silk and bamboo are melodious and mighty. During the temple fair, there are also folk cultural activities such as running circus, shaking dry boats, swinging boats in the lake and stepping on white boats. Starting from the evening of the second day of the fourth lunar month, pilgrims come from all directions one after another, some for burning incense, others for chanting sutras, praying to God and worshipping Buddha all night long, and praying for peace throughout the year. In the evening, there are social opera performances organized by pilgrims in the temple.
In June, 2009, Wang xin custom of protecting the country with grain was included in the third batch of Jiaxing intangible cultural heritage list. In February, 2011, Hu Guo was listed in the list of key cultural relics protection units in Zhejiang Province as “Xitang Building Group” along with Liangwang and seven other cultural relics in Xitang. In June, 2012, Wang xin custom of protecting the country with grain was listed in the fourth batch of intangible cultural heritage list of Zhejiang Province.
