On June 22nd, in order to further promote the project of “reducing and improving the quality” of folk beliefs and better stimulate the function of democratic consultation platform, Linhai City used the platform of “Please come to consult” for the first time in Leishikeng Village, Shangpan Town to discuss the dispute over the demolition of Huilong Temple, a folk belief site, which fully demonstrated that the party committee and government had broadened the channels of asking the people about politics, advice and needs, and provided a platform for the majority of villagers’ religious believers to express their demands, reflect their wishes, resolve conflicts and reach a unified opinion.
There are seven places of folk belief activities in Leishikeng Village, Shangpan Town, Linhai City, which are numerous, low in quality and difficult to manage. Since the start of the project of “reducing the quantity and improving the quality” of folk belief places, it has been strongly supported by the two committees of Leishikeng Village, but some religious believers have opposed it.
In order to collect the opinions and listen to the voices of the masses, Leishikeng Village held a democratic consultation meeting, and cadres of the two village committees, village representatives, elderly associations and religious believers attended the meeting. Chen Liangming, director of the village committee, first introduced the basic situation, and the participants discussed whether to demolish some places, demolish those places and how to upgrade the reserved places. Wang Yongli, secretary of the village branch, integrated the opinions of all parties to make a concluding speech. Finally, after consultation, it was decided that because the Huilong Temple in Shantou was old and there were potential safety hazards, it was demolished first, and it was dismantled at the end of June.
