Original title: Zhejiang Wenlv Observation: Why does outdoor sports become a holiday standard?
Just after the National Day, Ni Chuan, from Huzhou, Zhejiang, put the next riding plan on the agenda. Looking through his circle of friends, you can see that these seven days, he spent most of his time with mountain bikes. On the other hand, during the National Day holiday, Li Jiayu from Hangzhou, Zhejiang finally played paddle board in Xin ‘anjiang. In her words, “Paddle boards are standard during holidays” and “go every week”.
This is not a case. Outdoor sports have become one of the popular tourist experiences nowadays.
According to the “2022 National Day Holiday Tourism Summary Report” released by Ctrip, during the National Day, the surrounding outdoor travel orders increased by 270% compared with last year. Frisbee, kayaking, cycling and other new sports games in cities, sales increased by 425% year-on-year.
Why do outdoor sports come out of the circle and become the standard for holidays?
Guan Jing, a professor at Zhejiang Gongshang University and director of the Department of Tourism Management, said that after the epidemic, consumers’ perception of tourism and vacation has changed, leading to outdoor vacation becoming an extension of the national fitness craze. Coupled with the release of people’s tourism demand for short-distance vacation, outdoor sports has become a better entry point.
As a cycling enthusiast, Ni Chuan said that he “into the pit” went after the epidemic, with the aim of keeping fit, but unexpectedly, “he became addicted to riding”.
He showed the reporter the record of riding on the Taihu Lake on October 2nd, and rode more than 110 kilometers in 3 hours. According to him, there are many places in Zhejiang that are very suitable for cycling, including Longjing Village and Zhijiang Road in Hangzhou.
He also posted a cycling route around Hangzhou organized by cyclists, the reporter saw, including Yuyao Siming Mountain, Hangzhou West Lake District Lingshan Scenic Spot, Anji Cloud Grassland and other well-known scenic spots.
Outdoor sports into the holiday standard, but also lies in the increasingly complete scenic area facilities.
According to the survey and analysis of Lvmother Travel Network, during the National Day, many destinations and resort hotels tried to develop outdoor sports projects to enrich tourist experience, and the popularity of “tourism + sports” increased by about 113% compared with the same period last year.
Reporters have learned that many places in Zhejiang have been promoting the combination of scenic spots and outdoor sports.
For example, in Huzhou Anji tent, visitors can unlock paddle board water sports, ride around the tea garden, and relax through yoga. In Suichang, Lishui, they have built a cross-country route of “West Zhejiang, Sichuan and Tibet Line” through nine towns; in Zhoushan, the first East China surfing base was built here, attracting more than 20,000 targeted tourists.
Zhou Lingqiang, deputy director of the Institute of Tourism and Leisure at Zhejiang University, said that as people’s incomes increase and their requirements for quality of life constantly increase, similar sports and leisure programs will become a major trend for people to travel.
“It can be predicted that, with the boost of sports and leisure fever, consumers’ demand for sports equipment will also become increasingly prominent, and they are also willing to pay for fashionable and personalized new outdoor leisure sports.”Zhou Lingqiang said that at present, all places are deeply exploring the natural environment and sports combined with tourism resources, and the diversity of play determines that sports tourism has a broad audience range. It is expected that relevant departments will launch more measures to promote the popularization and normalization of outdoor sports, and provide more support for the integration of tourism and outdoor sports.(Reporter Tong Xiaoyu)
