On June 1st, Heilongjiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism organized a symposium on archaeological work to discuss the development of archaeological work in Heilongjiang University. Meng Xiangwu, deputy director of Heilongjiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, attended and spoke. Relevant personnel from the Department of Cultural Relics Protection and Archaeology of Heilongjiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, the Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, and the School of History and Culture Tourism of Heilongjiang University attended the symposium.
The meeting heard the introduction of Heilongjiang University on the background of archaeology, teaching staff, personnel training, academic research, Sino-foreign cooperative archaeology, etc. Meng Xiangwu affirmed the achievements made in the archaeological discipline construction of Heilongjiang University. He pointed out: First, we should improve our political position. All units should fully understand the significance of archaeological work and strengthen the guidance of the “14th Five-Year Plan for the Development of Cultural Relics in Heilongjiang Province”. Discipline construction and archaeological work should actively serve the overall situation of cultural relics protection, strive for the major project of “Archaeological China”, and demonstrate the civilization of Heilongjiang River Basin with archaeological achievements. The second is to play the role of archaeological historical alliance. The Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology and Heilongjiang University should further strengthen discipline cooperation and departmental collaboration. The Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism will guide the alliance to conduct regular exchanges, study problems, and complement each other’s resources to promote the collation, interpretation and dissemination of archaeological achievements. The third is to explore the training mechanism of cultural relics and archaeology talents. Heilongjiang University should take the problem of “small horse-drawn cart” as the guide, focus on the sustainable development of cultural relics in the future from the perspective of talent cultivation, explore solutions to the protection of cultural relics and the ability improvement of archaeologists in Heilongjiang, and gradually solve the problem of the shortage of grassroots talents.
During the symposium, the participants made in-depth discussions on the key archaeological work during the Tenth Five-Year Plan period, the site archaeology of Bohai State, the operation mechanism of the archaeological historical alliance, and personnel training.
